About the Teacher

Hi! I’m Melody, and I love to teach.

From the time I was a little girl at the ripe old age of 6, I knew I wanted to teach. The day I turned 16, I got a job as a tutor at a local learning center. As soon as I started college, I got a job as an instructional aide for the closest school district. Once I got my first full-time teaching position, I had worked with students ages 4-12 for over 10 years.

Now that I am a teacher, I can honestly say that I love it!!! Do I have exhausting days? Of course; I am a teacher after all. 😋 Do I look forward to summers? Absolutely! Having said that, every bone in my body loves teaching, and I have spent years learning as much as I can about best practices and innovative teaching ideas.

I have taught grades K, 1, 4, 5, and 6. I have been an intervention teacher, Ed Tech Mentor, and Literacy Mentor. In other words, you name it, I’ve probably done it! And I am not done learning yet.

The thing about teaching is that sometimes it can feel a bit isolating. I wanted a way to share my passion with other like-minded educators.

Thus, Learning N Progress was born. I wanted to build a community of teachers to celebrate each other’s accomplishments, cheer each other on, and most importantly learn from each other.

I am here to share what I know, learn what I have yet to know, and be part of the most rewarding profession there is…that of being a teacher.
